Grape syrup

Grape syrup (üzüm pekmezi in Turkish) is a molasses with a thick consistency made from grape must. The color and taste are similar to sugar beet syrup. But the taste is fruitier, with a slight acidity. It can be used as a topping (e.g. for pancakes) and also for baking. We recommend mixing the syrup with sesame paste (tahin-pekmez) and using it as a spread.
